I want my cat back.

The vet has had Gracie since this morning. They are doing a urinalysis, and apparently she is holding on to her urine with all she has. Lately, she’s been losing weight, even though we increased her food. She’s only three, and for the most part seems normal, but there’s this darn weight thing. And she’s not been as energetic as she usually is (she hardly put up a fight when getting into her crate this morning–highly unusual, and I have scars to prove it).

I’ve felt unsettled all day, since I had to leave her at the vet’s office. I want her home, curled up on the couch or on “her” chair at the little table in the kitchen. I want her meowing for dinner in about 15 minutes. I don’t want to leave the office and walk around the house and see all the places where she’s not.

Keep an eye on how much water she drinks! If she is uncharacteristically thirsty and her litterbox use increases while she continues to drop weight and display lethargy, it could mean that she’s no longer processing the carbs in her food (i.e. she’s slowly but literally starving to death despite your food increases). And if feline diabetes looks like it might be a real issue for you, then I can share plenty more info on that point!

I will definitely keep an eye on that.
