So that part about the room spinning? Not a metaphor. I was trying to wait it out, but last night I started dinner and got so dizzy and sick that as soon as Jesse pulled into the driveway, I stuck my head out the door and said, “I need you to finish dinner!” and as I hobbled to the bed and collapsed, I managed to add, “I’ve just put in the mozzarella and the parm.” And a few minutes later, weakly, “I didn’t chop the sun-dried tomatoes.” Jesse was a champ and took over dinner, finishing it, eating it, and then cleaning it up all while I stayed very very still, curled up on the bed, my eyes squeezed shut to try and calm the spinning. Later I managed to make it to the couch for a bowl of pasta and a glass of milk, but after dinner there was nothing I could do that wouldn’t make it all worse so I just went back to bed. This morning, I’ve got a walk-in appointment with my doctor, who I’m sure will say it’s my ears, just like last year, but unlike last year I’ll immediately fill the prescription she’ll give me and take the maximum dose. But before that, I’ve got to manage a half hour of driving across town. Oh, too much fun.

This doesn’t sound very good, Erin… Is it due to the long airplane ride, or just sanitary conditions in the Congo, or….??? Worried about you, praying for you…
Thanks, Becki. I don’t know what it is. It could be the long plane ride, or some virus I picked up, or maybe something to do with my neck… Whatever it is, I’m sure it will resolve itself soon. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!
