What would I do without my fabulous Facebook friends, keeping me supplied with much-needed breaks with hilarious videos, et cetera?

My current distractions:

Allow me to introduce Herman, our snow friend:

That’s right, we’ve got several inches of snow on the ground. (The snow around Herman is gone because he needed some, shall we say, work done.) Freezing rain is supposed to be on its way this afternoon. Our neighbors across the street made a snow lady, and I think Herman has a bit of a crush…

The Oregon Trail & Carmen Sandiego

Yesterday, Jesse and I slept in and spent most of the day being lazy, which is, I think, exactly what Sundays are for. Then, we found some old games online and Jesse downloaded some kind of emulator-thing and we spent the rest of the afternoon playing Oregon Trail. Our little party consisted of Jesse (a saddlemaker), me, Oliver, Gracie, and our friend Joey. I was bitten by a snake at least once. Sadly, Joey died of cholera one day before we made it to the Willamette Valley! Ack! (Sorry, Joey, we tried to hit the “Rest” button, but we didn’t make it in time.)

Then, we went to church, and afterward we ate at Atlanta Bread and walked around Mayfaire a bit in the freezing cold. We came home and played Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? Which was awesome.

What old childhood games do you remember playing?

When I arrived at my office yesterday (feeling rather icky after not sleeping well), I found a lovely card and a DIY stand-up kitty from my friend Allison. Could she be any sweeter? Now the office finally has its first decoration. I promised my office-mate David I wouldn’t bring in anything girly…I guess a stand-up kitty could classify as girly, but it’s got lots of blue and brown and green in it. Hopefully he won’t mind too much.

I perked right up after getting this. Made my morning!
